Ivy manifesto     Ivy is a small-scale independent booking agency, based in Belgium. Artists currently on the roster are Amenra, Ansatz der Maschine, The Black Heart Rebellion, Guernica, Hawai, Hitch, Nomad, Vandal X and Zucchini Drive. In the past we also worked with Cavemen Speak, Galatasaray, Haymarket Riot, Wixel ... Wanna join the Ivy family? Ivy resists the major music industry. The reason we are declarative about this is because we feel like the world of mediation for this stuff (entertainment media & commercial outlets) conspires against any discussion of the structures, economic principles and so forth that really distinguish one approach to music from another. Independency is too often referred to as an empty slogan or naively romantic or some sort of branding strategy, when in fact we are just trying to work on a local, human scale. The major music industry, and the techniques of multi-national corporations, are the aberration, not the norm. Ian MacKaye (Fugazi) – one of our favourite people – puts it this way. We are entirely hopeful that thousands and thousands of people in the wealthy countries of the world who pursue music and art and writing and so forth will continue occupying their little corners and fumble around trying to make connections and have conversations with others.
