Hitch started out in 1994, near Kortrijk (Belgium) and took their name from the movie "The Hitcher" (starring the enigmatic Rutger Hauer as the psycho on duty). In 1997, they released their first EP 'Triggered Backwards' and went on tour in Europe straight after that. In 1998, the guys switched to Delboy Records for the release of 'Out Of The Light, Into The Fire...' (1998) and kept on touring Europe all the way through the releases of the '.hitch.' 7inch (2000), compilation releases and the 'Monolith' album (2002). In 2003, 'Monolith' was picked up by Chicago tourmates from Haymarket Riot which resulted in an American release on Divot Records (2003) and the band's first Stateside tour.

Kinky Star Records took over from Delboy and released both a 7inch and the 'Trails Are Ablaze!' album in 2004. In support of these releases the band embarked on a second US/Canadian tour (with shows on CMW and SXSW). Two singles/videos were taken from the album and topped national radio charts such as the Arriba!-list (Humo & Studio Brussel) for weeks. The videos were in high rotation on JIM, TMF and Dutch MTV.
Now get the buzz going, because the brand new Hitch is here! To record in the old skool ways of the analogue era, the band headed out to the infamous Kozmo Studios in Croatia to cut 14 new tracks in 10 days. Hitch's infamous live energy will escape your speakers, hit your eardrums, affect your neck muscles and drive your next of kin insane. The album contains the roughest, rawest material the band ever recorded. Their sound cannot be stripped down any more, unless they decide to play their shows in the nude. It doesn't get any more honest than this...

'We Are Electric!' was engineered by Bojan K. & Hein D., mastered at Electric City by Vince T. (Amenra, Rise And Fall, Officer Jones AHPCP, ...) and produced by Hitch. Vlas Vegas and Moonlee Records joined forces for the release and Bang! sees to the distribution in the Benelux.

The album contains 11 songs. The other recorded material will see the light of day later on this year on various 7inch releases (including a split 7inch with Amenra and the first ever cover song the band has performed). Stay tuned!
The year 2006 already saw the release of 'Trails Are Ablaze!' in Germany (through Decoder Records) and the release of 'We Are Electric!' on Vlas Vegas and Moonlee. This release too, will be supported by a European Tour in the fall of 2006 and a number of Benelux shows.

In 2006, Hitch played as support act for Millionaire, Mudhoney, Mono, ... Highlights last summer were shows on the 2 biggest alternative festivals in Belgium: Dour Festival & Pukkelpop. On top of all this, Pukkelpop invited Hitch to fly over to South Africa to play the Oppikoppi Festival. This adds Hitch to a short list of Belgian bands who've had the honour of receiving this invitation (Soulwax, Millionaire, Zita Swoon, An Pierlé, Arsenal, ...). How ‘bout that?!

2007 will bring more concerts (Hitch has a reputation!) and new material will be tried upon audiences throughout the Benelux.
Memorable Hitch-moments were the shows at Pukkelpop, the appearances at the Dour Festival (6 times by now!), opening up for Ash at the Botanique, the club tour with Part Chimp (Rock Action Recs.) and seeing a very enthousiastic Tony Wilson in the audience during one of the SXSW shows.

Hitch has had the honour and pleasure (and subsequent head-aches) of sharing stages and drinking beers with the likes of Girls vs. Boys, Trans Am, the Paper Chase, Oxbow, At The Drive-In, Karate, Cave In, Millionaire, Rye Coalition and many, many others whom we deem to be amongst the most kick ass bands on this planet...
